Poor Credit And No Respect

One of my favorite comedians of all time was the great Rodney Dangerfield. This bug-eyed king of the one liners made millions of dollars proclaiming how he didn't get any respect. His comedy was priceless. The saying "I don't get no respect" easily can be converted from the comedy stage into the direct lives of anyone that has ever lived with poor credit. Don't understand where I am coming from? Simple enough. Just call any seller financed home and state that you have terrible credit but you want to come and see the home, and that the credit shouldn't cause a problem as one lender said they would help. Watch how you are treated. Now, call another seller financed home and state that you really don't need the seller financing as your credit is great, it's just you saw the home while driving by and want to look at it for potential purchase. Now, watch how they treat you. You will surely find two dramatically different receptions.
The sad thing is, it doesn't just happen in the real estate arena. Those of us with poor credit are looked at as second rate citizens. If we can't rent a car, stay in a hotel, or buy a late night informercial offering, then we are not worth dealing with. I wish I could count the hundreds of people that were passed over for promotions, job opportunities, or a host of other things, all simply based on their credit score. Isn't it odd that people do not take the time to see just what caused the poor score? I mean, it isn't always due to bad decisions on the part of the individual with the bad credit. I have seen many instances where it was due to divorce, illness, and a host of other factors.
One of the main reasons we started the Poor Credit Loan Program on a nationwide level was to do away with the finger pointing and unwarranted assumptions. Our goal was to place everyone on the same playing field and get the scores up so the individuals could really be players. I must say that it is paying off to. We are seeing hundreds of clients monthly moving their scores up and finally leaving the rental trap. My momma always told me to look past the obvious...And she was right!
