Take back food reviews

I have worn very thin in seeking out food review in the Charlotte newspapers and the Charlotte weekly publication and not finding anything that applies to the general public. I have an appreciate for the art that goes into food preparation and presentation but I think the message is getting lost in the art.

90+% of the meals are prepared for working class indiviuals, and more than half are during their work day. The values that are help to be important in the most common meals are never the message in the food reviews I see presented by critics. I see the use of common uppity reviews to be perhaps applicable for a nice night out, but hardly a good way to get practicle applicable ideas of new restaurants.

I believe the important concepts that often get over looed and are the most important in the dining experience are:

1. Authentic flavors

2. Atmosphere and comfort

3. Good price

4. Good portions

5. Nice varying menu

6. Specials

7. Local draw and prestige for the neighborhood

When looking closely at these aspects of dining I seldom see these points stressed in positive reviews.

I think the people doing the dining need to take back the food review, since we are the true patrons of our local area Charlotte restaurants and nightlife.
