Never leave home without your business cards

A bell ringing makes people know that an establishment is open. Or makes them stare and try to find out where that came from. Your business cards are your bells. In this case, it is YOU who is being represented and being marketed by these cards. You cannot go about carrying and taking resumes along with you. But you can have dozens of business cards with you and nobody would notice. Never leave home without your business cards. There is no telling who you might meet as you go shopping or visit friends. Everywhere you go there is an opportunity to network just by giving out your cards. Make it a habit to carry some in your wallet. Make it also a habit to make them as important as taking your wallet along.
Insert a business card to your bill payments. Bills have advertisements too so why not make the most of the opportunity to advertise yourself using these bills. The possibility that some person, famous ones too, will get hold of your cards and be interested in what you are offering is too great to pass. Take the risk.
Remember your business card etiquette. Ask for a business card whenever you give your business card. When receiving one, try not to put it in your pocket immediately. Read what is there to show the giver that you are taking in the details you see in their card. Do what you want people to do with your cards too.
As for referrals. People may know people who might be in need of your services if they do not need them for themselves. And people also like doing favors for another. They would naturally feel better when they know that they have helped you even in the smallest sense. Give not one card but two.
Place yourself at the right place at the right time. Every opportunity to be present in places where there are potential clients should be grabbed. Example of this are job fair or seminars where people there is a chance of you giving out your cards to people you will meet. Try helping out in the events and give out your cards after you finished.
Have a slogan you can brand yourself with. With many printing companies now using more tools and having employees that can think of anything that will suit your desires, nothing is impossible anymore. You can even try to do it yourself. The convenience of having printers online catering to doing business cards for you should be maximized. The trouble of going over to printers is lessened as you can do these things in the comfort of your home anytime you want to.
