Quick Web Page Checks

<FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=2>
How often have you seen a webpage called "no title" a quick Google search yields over 1 million. The Title tag is probably the most important meta tag for page optimization and over a million pages have just squandered it!

Most people make a web page using a web page template and another common mistake is to forget to change the meta keywords or description of the template.

Mistakes are easy to make and it is easy to forget things so what I try to do when I submit a web page is to.

<UL> <LI>Make sure it is spell checked. <LI>Copy my meta description into a webpage editor with spell checker to confirm that I haven't made any spelling mistakes. Most editors don't spellcheck the meta tags only the text you see. I generally do this by using the description on my article list page. (see below) <LI>Use an online meta tag checker to make sure the tags are there and that they are correct for the page. <LI>Check to see if the Google ads ( if used) match the page content. <LI>Manually check any links to see that they work. <LI>Check that I have at least one page that links to it. I use an article page where I list all my articles. I also use a sitemapbut I don't update it each time but once a month. <LI>Check to see how the page displays in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I've previously encountered problems with Firefox not displaying styles correctly or should I say differently to Internet Explorer. <LI>I sometimes use an HTML checker like CSE HTML validator.</FONT></LI></UL>
