Guide To Asbestos Waste Disposal

For workmen who handle Asbestos removal as a part of their job, Asbestos Waste Disposal is a matter of critical significance. This is important because of health hazards of asbestos exposure. This account encapsulates some guidelines for guidelines for safe Asbestos Waste Disposal.
Asbestos Waste Disposal - Removal Procedures:
In this stage of Asbestos Waste Disposal process, the persons undertaking the removal should wear personal protective equipment and bring all tools inside the work area. This is done to restrict exits from the area once the material is disturbed. The Floor Tile and Vinyl Sheeting (Linoleum) need to be wetted with amended water to suppress the possible release of asbestos fibers. For the Floor tiles, use a hammer and putty knife on the edges to pop them loose. The remaining tiles can be popped gently, using the knife at a 45 Degree angle, thus preventing excessive breakage. Cut the Linoleum adhered on the edges or over the entire floor surface in manageable sections with a utility or linoleum knife. Use a scrapper to scrape the bottom edge of the linoleum. Remove any linoleum residue or Adhesives that stay adhered to the floor tiles by wetting them thoroughly with amended water and hand scrubbing with an abrasive pad. Do not sand adhesives as this could cause the release of asbestos fibers.
Asbestos Waste Disposal - Cleanup:
The next step in Asbestos Waste Disposal process involves removing potential asbestos dust and particulate form the work area. Wipe all surfaces, poly sheeting and equipments within the work area with a damp cloth, periodically rinsing it and changing the water. Discard the protective suit after rolling it up inside out. Place the towels, mop heads into waste bags and seal them with a duct tape. After completing the procedure, clean your self with a shower to remove asbestos fibers still clinging to body and hair.
Asbestos Waste Disposal - Minnesota Department of Public Health (MDH) Recommendations:
Asbestos waste disposal concludes with disposing the waste in a landfill that accepts asbestos containing waste. MDH recommends that you should contact local waste hauler for special pickup, take the services of a licensed abatement contractor for pick-up and disposal of asbestos waste material or dispose of the waste yourself. If you chose to dispose the waste on your own, you have to be careful to seal the material and mark label all the cartons and bags for asbestos containing materials.
