Low budget marketing methods can yield the best results. I'll not give the organization's name but let me share the experience with you all. A very new branch opened in a metropolitan city KOLKATA which is in India in the year 1999 - 2000. This year was not too tech savvy year in KOLKATA. Email was very recently launched. We had a very small space to start with 450 Sq. Ft. This included a washroom & a Manager's Cubicle with a small space for preparing tea. If 6 people were together then the place got congested.

It started with a very low budget. The organization didn't even approve money to send mailers. We were provided with two landline telephones and Leased Line connection to send mails with two computers. No funds, no fliers, no leaflets, no pamphlets.

The only way was field work & Emails. We couldn't send huge number of mails as the Email ID would have been blocked. We contributed our database. Made a good list and started mailing customers individually.

The Customer Support Executives were supposed to mail the clients one by one and out of every 30 mails we used to get atleast one response. But this was what we didn't expect. We thought atleast one out of ten persons should be interested.

Sitting recluse one day I realized that we need to give them some good offers but we were not supposed to provide any according to the Corporate Office. We bundled the services and re-mailed the same customer list.

Bingo!!!!! We did it. This time the same database gave us a result which was really amazing. Out of every ten emails four were interested. Isn't that great?? It was indeed a very good marketing procedure. Just with almost zero expenses we did the marketing and within two months we moved to a new office which was 2000 sq. feet.

Observing this I was delighted. I was the main person with this idea at that time, so I was also promoted. But what I learnt is that it needs good marketing skill to do marketing but not big investment to do marketing always.
