Midway Utah Real Estate

Midway Utah is a small town located 46 miles north of Salt Lake. It is adjacent to the popular cities of Heber and Park City. This nice high alpine valley city sits on the Wasatch Front between thick forests and beautiful lakes. The beautiful mountains and great views make Midway real estate a very valuable commodity. This quite city is home for over 2,121 Utah residents. Many more people come during winter to take advantage of the great Utah snow. Midway is also a very unique town for other reasons.

Being known as “Utah's little Switzerland,” is one of those reasons. Midway offers something original for its residents to enjoy. Originally Swiss settlers colonized and cultivated the land; the mountain peaks and farm filled valleys of Heber Valley bore a close resemblance to their native European land. The Swiss influence in Midway can be seen in the architecture and the town's famous Swiss Days celebration. The city has an ordinance that states that a certain number of all new homes built must have certain Swiss inspired architectural features. These unique one of a kind homes keep Midway real estate prices at a premium.

The Black Hawk War ironically caused one of the area's biggest shifts in real estate. Due to threats of attacks from hostile Indians local leader Brigham Young called for residents of the Heber Valley to consolidate for protection. Midway was the selected location for this major relocation as it was midway between the dispersed farm colonies. The city has been growing ever since. Midway real estate has gone on to become one of the most coveted residential areas in the state of Utah.

Winter season activities provide the outdoor enthusiast with possibilities such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, tubing and sleigh rides. Soldier Hollow, in Midway, was proudly elected as the 2002 Olympic Winter Games cross-country and biathlon venue. A short 22 miles from Park City, Heber offers convenient access to alpine skiing at several of Utah's paramount resorts including The Canyons, Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, and Sundance Village. Although agriculture is still a significant industry in the area, recreation and tourisms has become a very important aspect of Heber Valley economy. Local realtors attribute much of the appreciation of Midway real estate to its close location to these popular resorts and the quick access to many other recreational locations in the area. Local recreation attractions include golf courses, Deer Creek Reservoir, Wasatch Mountain State Park, and the nationally known Homestead Resort. Changes will continue to come to the community as the economy shifts towards tourism and as the world discovers Midway and its charm.

Adding to its fame, Midway was the site of the 2002 Olympic cross-country and bi-athlon events at Solider Hollow. Midway is also known for the large "hot-pot" or geo-thermal caldera, a part of the Homestead Resort and Mountain Spa, which hosts year-round scuba diving. The water of the caldera is 90-95 degrees, year round. Midway is host to the Heber Valley's golf courses, and boasts the 18-hole Homestead golf-course designed by Bruce Summerhays, a Senior PGA Tour Pro.

What a great community and location. I have had the opportunity to visit Midway on many occasions and participate in its splendid resorts and wonderful recreational opportunities. Anyone who overlooked Midway Utah real estate has overlooked a huge opportunity live in one of the State's premier locations. There is no doubt that the real estate market in Midway will grow and strengthen for many years to come.
