Didn't Bush Promise To Lower Gas Taxes? Well He Lied

DIDN'T BUSH PROMISE TO LOWER GAS TAXES? WELL HE LIED
When you consider the amount of money the Bush-Cheney campaigns have received from oil and gas interests, its no wonder they're more intent on looking after their corporate friends than looking out for American families.
In campaign 2000, Bush promised to reduce the gas tax “as a means of helping motorists cope with the sharp rise in gasoline prices.” Yet none of his tax cuts have kept this promise and families are now burdened with the highest gas prices in history.
In 2000, Bush also promised to "jawbone" his buddies in the oil business to get them to lower prices. Its 4 years later and Bush hasn't jawboned anyone.
In fact, he recently admitted that he hasn't even called his best-buddies in Saudi Arabia. Bush's press secretary said other members of the Administration have been in contact with foreign officials, but he refused to identify who they were. Last month a Saudi official said they hadn't being contacted. So who are these unnamed foreign leaders the Administration is supposedly jawboning?
Bush's failed energy policies have already cost the average household $500 a year, and that figure does not reflect all of the costs to America's families. Higher gas prices are a threat to America's prosperity. They not only mean increased costs for everyday travel, they mean higher fuel costs for trucks and airplanes, which in turn leads to higher prices for groceries, clothes, and other items typically found on shopping lists. And yet, Bush has nothing to stop the escalating costs.
According to respected author, Bob Woodward, Bush has cut a secret deal with Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia, to lower gas prices right before the 2004 election. If he can persuade the Prince to lower gas prices in the fall, he can get him to lower prices today.
Its high-time that Bush started thinking about what's best for American families instead of what's beneficial to his own political and financial interests.
